1. Please use the front-right, fenced-outside entrance to bring your dancer to class. Dancers should proceed down the outside entryway and enter the dance studio into the dressing room/changing area. NO SHOES ARE EVER allowed in this area. CAUTION: Because this is a dressing room only dancers are permitted into this area.

2. One dance bag with first and last name on the outside of the dancing bag. The dance bag should be large enough to carry all necessary dance items.

3. Dance attire consists of any color leotard, tights, booty shorts, legwarmers, black leather (not patent leather) tap oxfords (they lace up the front), black ballet shoes. Because instructors need to see movement of the body, tight-fitting dance clothes are necessary. A dress code is strictly enforced -- no tee shirts, sweat pants, sweat shirts. You may also purchase these items (with the exception of child-sized legwarmers) at Deb’s Dancewear in the Rimrock Mini Mall or Reiter’s Marina, 450 Main Street, 252-9341 (ask for Bonnie). Reiter's is giving a 20% discount on all retail dance supplies from now until October 30, 2010.

For more detailed information, go to:http://rimviewdancestudio.com/dancerinformation.php

4. Hair should be off the face and neck. Braids work best because they don’t interfere with tumbling/acrobatics. Miss Lynda will show you how the hair should be done. If you do this each week, by the time the dancers are ready to perform, you should have no problem “slipping” the fake hairpiece over the braid. Please do this each week for the practice. No little bobby pins, charms, clips may be used in the hair only long bobby pins that cross. This usually is not necessary if the wet hair is anchored in place with gel.

5. No jewelry in class. No fingernail polish (please).

6. Your dancer will be dismissed only to you or other registered individuals. If an unregistered individual needs to pick up your child, please send that information to Miss Lynda in an E-Mail.

7. If your child has to miss a class for ANY reason, please call prior to this class and let staff know. (Please call or send an E-Mail). If you miss more than two classes in a row, it is especially important to contact staff. Because you are charged for missed classes, if you decide to discontinue classes at the RimView Dance Studio, please let Miss Lynda know in writing immediately, mcdance@imt.net.

IMPORTANT NOTE: At this age, the girls are making friends and doing lots of socializing. Therefore, if your dancer misses too many classes, the other girls simply forget about her because she’s not around. At that point, your daughter will feel like she doesn’t have any friends at dance. All of this can be avoided by regular attendance. Instructors will converse with parents of any dancer who misses three weeks in-a-row in order to determine if this is the appropriate class for your dancer and possibly to suggest another time.

If a dancer misses more than four classes in a row, a private class will be schedule for her to “catch up” on the choreography. The cost is $50/hour. If this dancer was in a competition class, she would not be permitted to compete during the 2010-2011 dance year.

8. Have your dancer prepared to go to class on “dancing day.” At this age you probably expect them to remember everything for dance but they don’t. So please check dance bags.

9. Because the RDS family is "going green," sign in as a follower on the RDS blogspot: http://rimviewdancestudio.blogspot.com In this way, as daily postings are made, you will receive them instantly to your gmail account (sign up for a gmail E-Mail at http://www.gmail.com).

10. This class has at least two “Designated Mothers.” These are Mothers who attend every class in order to help the kids who need extra attention. The dancers get to know these wonderful Mothers and are very comfortable. A “Designated Mother” is not a “new” mom but one who has had a child in this class for at least one year. Designated Mothers are just as important as the teachers so please treat them kindly and with dignity and respect.

11. Don’t forget to read “The Schedule of Events” (affectionately referred to as “The Bible”). This is a yearly over view of everything! Important dates not to miss: Halloween pizza party, Christmas gift exchange, Valentine’s Day. The MANDATORY Photo Session is May 7, 2011 at the 3419 Central Avenue location. There is also a MANDATORY dress rehearsal at the ALBERTA BAIR THEATER on SUNDAY, JUNE 5th and the recital is Saturday, June 11th at 7:00 p.m.

NOTE: During photo session day, there may be conflicts with the Women's Run or other such events. The RDS Family only has two MANDATORY days -- photo session, dress rehearsal -- please plan accordingly. Any student who does not attend these events will not be participating in the final performance.

14. On the front of this sheet is a picture of last year’s costume. You are responsible for your daughter’s dance costume. The costume will consist of not only the costume itself but a faux (fake) hairpiece, hairbows, tap shoe bows, tights, nude leotard, nude bra and whatever else is needed to complete “the look.” A $60 non-refundable per costume costume deposit (for example, two classes = $120 non-refundable deposit) is due on November 2, 2010. Mark your calendars now. PLEASE NOTE: There will be a balance due in February. The $60 deposit per costume is just a deposit. Please plan on spending at least $135 per complete costume per year.

15. If your address and/or telephone number, E-Mail changes, marital status or name changes, please let staff know immediately.

16. If there are any situations that staff need to know that may cause your child distress (divorce, death, illness), please let contact instructors immediately.

17. Your dancer will not be allowed to go home with anyone other than those that you have registered.

18. Most importantly -- Have fun with us! Dancing and teaching kids is our LIFE. It is what we have been trained extensively to do. If you have a question, ask away!
