MONDAY 4:30-5:30 INFORMATION SHEET
Summer Classes begin on Thursday, July 8th from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Fall Classes begin on Monday, September 13th from 4:30-5:30 p.m.
2010-2011 DANCE YEAR
1. Please use the front-right, fenced-outside entrance to bring your dancer to class. Dancers should proceed down the outside entryway and enter the dance studio into the dressing room/changing area. NO SHOES ARE EVER allowed in this area. CAUTION: Because this is a dressing room only dancers are permitted into this area.
**IMPORTANT NOTE: Please have little ones go to the bathroom before you bring them into the studio.
2. One dance bag with first and last name on the outside of the dancing bag. The dance bag should be large enough to carry all necessary dance items.
3. Dance attire consists of a long-sleeved black leotard, pink ballet tights, pink ballet legwarmers, pink ballet shoes and white patent leather tap shoes. Little dancers may also wear a pink or black ballet skirt. All of these supplies (EXCEPT the shoes) may be purchased through the studio on the first day of class. For one set of black leotards, pink tights, pink legwarmers, the total cost is $39.50. White patent leather tap shoes can be purchased at REITER’S MARINA (ask for Bonnie), 450 Main Street, 252-9341. She takes extra care to make sure your child’s shoes fit. If you go into Reiter’s prior to October 30, 2010, Bonnie will give you a 20% discount.
This “dance uniform” is strictly enforced in order to avoid unnecessary problems with the little ones. They tend to pick their “best friends” by what they look like. These are kids. Let’s respect their maturity level.
For further detailed information, go to:http://rimviewdancestudio.com/dancerinformation.php
4. Hair should be off the face and neck. A braided bun works best. Pull bangs off the face. No small bobby pins. Use large bobby pins to secure the bun.
5. No jewelry in class. No fingernail polish (Please)
6. Mothers only may observe Monday classes as other relatives, friends and siblings are too much of a distraction. This is strictly enforced in order for your dancer to feel secure and to learn that they are safe. Mothers may not observe the class the first six weeks. Please wait in the dressing room area. If any issues arise, you will be immediately contacted.
After this six week initial period, please feel free to observe this class. NOTE: If your dancer hasn’t seen you all day, she will need some “downtime” with you before you bring her to class. Many youngsters will not adjust without this “coming down period.” They will cry and whine and you won’t know why. The kindest act you can do is to give your young one a hug and a kiss and then leave.
Parents, if you have any questions or concerns, please converse with the teacher AWAY from your dancer. Instructors will not engage in any conversation in front of little ones.
7. Do not come into the studio while class is in session. If you do stay, please do so at the beginning of class.
8. Your dancer will be brought out to the front entrance as soon as the class has ended. If you haven’t yet arrived when class is dismissed, please open the front door and your child will be brought to you. Your dancer will never EVER be left without adult supervision. REMEMBER: Another class is in session and everyone must be respectful to those students as well.
9. Stay for any class in which your child is registered; but after you and your child are comfortable, please do not stay for every class. Your appearance at every class has the other little ones wondering, “Why isn’t my mom here?” (Again, distractions).
10. If your child has to miss a class for ANY reason, please call prior to this class and let staff know. If your dancer misses more than two classes in a row, it is especially important to contact staff either by E-Mail or telephone.
11. Have your little dancer prepared to go to class on “dancing day.” If little ones have to come in from play or with a friend, or wake up from a nap, you will get the “I don’t want to go.” Even adults do this. Give them time to adjust; get on their dance attire; have a snack; pack their dance bag . . . And you’re on your way with excitement and no fuss!
12. At this age, attendance is EXTREMELY EXTREMELY important. If your young dancer misses two weeks in a row, she/he will feel "out-of-sorts." In addition, the other kids don't know them either because they haven't seen them. Any student who misses more than three weeks in a row will no longer be part of a class and instructors will suggest re-enrolling them at a time that would better fit your schedule.
13. Your dancer may bring treats to class and be the “Sweet Dancer.” However, treats must be individually wrapped (for ease in distribution).
14. When cold weather arrives, label your dancer’s outdoor wear (boots, gloves, hats, mittens, coats, snowpants). Please check our “Lost and Found” if you are missing something.
15. Because the RDS family is "going green," sign in as a follower on the RDS blogspot:http://rimviewdancestudio.blogspot.com In this way, as daily postings are made, you will receive them instantly to your gmail account (sign up for a gmail E-Mail at http://www.gmail.com).
**Each RDS dancing family will be assigned a "password" that will direct you to a safe and secure site whereby you will have access to your personal account. The password will be your dancer's (or in the case of more than one dancer in a family, the eldest dancer's) MIDDLE NAME, DAY AND DATE OF BIRTH (for example, marie0307).
16. Please check to see that your dancer has her pink ballet shoes and white patent leather tap shoes are in the dance bag for every class. For safety, dancers are not allowed on the dance floor without appropriate shoes.
17. If your child is ill, please keep them at home. If they are just grumpy, bring them! We’ll get them in a good mood! Remember, you are charged for missed classes. So if you decide to discontinue your relationship with the RimView Dance Studio, notify Miss Lynda in writing or E-Mail. You will be charged for classes until notification is sent.
18. Often times little ones of this age need a nap before coming to dance. If they are too tired, they are fussy and not very cooperative which causes the other little ones distress (they are so sympathetic).
19. This class has several “Designated Mothers.” These are mothers unselfishly attend every class so that they can help this group backstage at performances. The dancers get to know them and are very comfortable. A “Designated Mother” is not a “new” mom but one who has had a child in this class for at least one year. Designated Mothers are just as important as the teachers. On that note, please be kind and respectful to all Designated Mothers as we are all working for the benefit of the kids.
20. Don’t forget to read “The Schedule of Events” (affectionately referred to as “The Bible”). This is a yearly over view of everything! Important dates not to miss: Halloween Dress Up Day, Christmas Gift Exchange Day, Valentine Exchange Day. The MANDATORY Photo Session is April 30, 2011 at the studio. There is also a MANDATORY dress rehearsal at the ALBERTA BAIR THEATER on SUNDAY, JUNE 5th at 12:45-2:00 p.m. The recital "OWN THE STAGE," will be held Saturday, June 11th at 7:00 p.m.
21. On more important note: In order for your dancer to adjust to the dancing class, bring your daughter to the studio; take to the bathroom; bring into the studio; kiss and hug your dancer and then leave. This makes the transistion not only comfortable for your youngster but also the instructors.
If you are observing a class and your child displays adverse behavior, please leave. Exit through the back. Wait outside in the dressing area or your vehicle. Teachers will come and get you if the little one is unable to adjust for whatever reason. Sometimes they are starting to get sick and they are fussier than usual. We pick up on this fast and we’ll let you know immediately. I don’t profess to have all the answers but I have been teaching for forty-seven years. Work with me and your dancer and we’ll all have an enjoyable and memorable experience!

23. At the top of this page is a picture of last year’s costume. You are responsible for your daughter’s dance costume. The costume will consist of not only the costume itself but a faux (fake) hairpiece, hairbows, tap shoe bows, tights and whatever else is needed to complete “the look.” A $60 non-refundable costume deposit is due on November 2, 2010. Costumes will be ordered at that time in order to receive them for the photo session (April 30). Mark your calendars now. Please note that the $60 is just a deposit. The balance is due in February 2011. Please plan on spending approximately $135 for a complete costume for the year.
24. If your address and/or telephone number, E-Mail changes, marital status or name changes, please let staff know immediately.
25. Your child will not be allowed to go home with anyone other than those that you have registered.
26. If there are any situations that I need to know that may cause your child distress (divorce, death, illness), please let me know immediately.
27. Most importantly -- Have fun with us! Dancing and teaching kids our LIFE. It is what we have been trained extensively to do. If you have a question, ask away!
