Dancer Information


1) Dance classes begin promptly at the designated times: The one hour dance hour is 55 minutes long with the last five minutes utilized in order to allow dancers to get ready and to collect their dance gear. After dancers are dismissed, please wait in the lobby. Please do not enter the dance studio because the next class is beginning. Reminder to everyone: No street shoes are permitted in the entire dance studio. Please respect this necessity. Please respect the dancers and the teachers by not entering the classroom while class is in session.

3) Required Tap Dance Shoes: Intermediate Tap Classes wear a Capezio M-60 tap shoe. Advanced classes wear a Capezio K-360 tap shoe. All shoes may be purchased at Reiter's Marina in the Heights. 4) Dancer's hair: All hair must be neatly secured off the face before coming to class. All lower levels: gel hair (including bangs) back; secure in a high ponytail; braid; wrap the braid into a "dancer's bun." NO SHORT BOBBY PINS. Long bobby pins only. 5) Dancing Bag: All dancers bring to class a "dancing bag" in which to carry dancing gear, accessories, and informational notes from teachers. First and last name must be on the outside of the bag. Samples of Dancing Bags 3-Ring Notebook: All dancers (except Monday 4:30 class) need a plastic 3-ring notebook to class with the first and last name clearly on the outside. 3-ring plastic notebook Wednesday 4:30-5:30 "Thriller Class" All dancers need one wig; "Thriller" make-up: make-up brushes; make-up remover, kleenex, wet ones, black powdered eyeshadow; red eyeshadow, purple eyeshadow, red glitter, black eyeliner pencil, red eyeliner pencil, one pair of demi wisp eyelashes in black, eyelash glue, one pair tweezers, hair gel, long bobby pins, bandaids, safety pins, white hairspray, yellow/blue/purple hairspray, cotton circles, cosmetic container in which to carry all cosmetic. 6) Jewelry: In order to keep dancers safe, no jewelry of any kind will be worn in class. NO SMALL BOBBY PINS IN HAIR. LONG BOBBY PINS that are securely anchored are permitted. Small bobby pin / Long bobby pins

8) Missed Classes: If a dancer has to miss a class for any reason, please contact one of the teachers as soon as possible by E-Mail mcdance@imt.net or a telephone call at 855-4909. Advanced classes are allowed two unexcused absences per year. Any student who wishes to compete, must attend at least 85% of the classes over the course of the dance year.
9) Costumes: Costumes are ordered in November for the May photo session and the June recital. Prepare in advance for a $60 costume deposit for each costume.
10) "Schedule of Events": A Schedule of Events booklet is provided to each dancer on the first day of dance class. In this schedule, teachers have detailed the times, the events, the costs, and all dance participation activities for the upcoming dance year. 11) Study Aids: In January 2009, instructors will provide a CD, DVD and complete dance notes for all dancing classes. The cost for these study materials is $35.
12) The Recital Photo Session: SATURDAY, MAY 2ND -- Held at the RimView Dance Studio, West End, for the following classes: Monday 4:30 class: "I Know I Can Do It" Monday 5:00 class: "ABC", "Let's Have a Party" Monday 6:00 class, "76 Trumbones", "Tiki Tiki Room" SATURDAY, MAY 9TH -- Held at the Billings Hotel and Convention Center, Explorer Room All other routines Parents DO NOT have to purchase pictures
13) MANDATORY DRESS REHEARSAL A MANDATORY dress rehearsal for all dance recital participants will be held on Sunday, June 7th at the Alberta Bair Theater beginning at 12:30 p.m. Specific times will be given to each student prior to the rehearsal.
14) The 2009 Annual Dance Recital, "iD.A.N.C.E." RIMVIEW DANCE STUDIOS' 34th Annual Dance Recital will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2009 7:00 p.m. at the Alberta Bair Theater. Tickets go on sale on MONDAY, MAY 4, 2009 at the Alberta Bair Ticket Office, Rimrock Mall customer service or online at http://www.albertabairtheater.org. Recital tickets are $17 per seat.
15) Summer dance classes: The 2009 Summer Dance Workshop begins on WEDNESDAY, JULY 8. Students who are interested in competitions should attend this month long workshop. This is by teacher invitation only.
16) Yearly Registration Fee: There is a yearly Registration Fee of $30 for all students. Monthly Tuition: Tuition is due on the 5th of the month unless other arrangements are made. A $25 late fee will be applied to any account that is paid after the 5th of the month.
17) Optional out-of-studio Performances: Periodically during the year as opportunies arise, students who wish to enhance their dancing skills will be asked to participate at various performances and fashion shows.
18) Pre-school Dancing Program: Pre-school classes involve creative movement, pre-ballet, introduction to tap dancing, basic music skills (counting music; finding and counting from the beginning of a musical phrase to the end; finding and moving on the down beat), tumbling/acrobatics as it pertains to dance.
19) Private instruction: Private instruction is available for pageants, talent shows, auditions are available. Music CD, choreography and notes also are available.
20) Observation of Classes: Mothers only may observe any lower level class (Monday classes only) in which their child is registered. Observation is not allowed in the intermedicate or advanced classes. This is not a “performance” class but a “learning” class. No siblings may observe as they are a distraction.
